Internships & Service

International and intercultural internships provide remarkable opportunities for students to gain incomparable career experience and develop intercultural competencies while earning academic credit. Likewise, sustained service is another way to serve in the community while gaining experience related to personal, professional, and academic goals.

Career Center Library

Resources in the Career Center Library that assist students in finding international or intercultural internships include the Directory of International Internships, Internships in International Affairs, and The Big Guide to Living and Working Overseas. A career advisor can help students get started. The Going Global – Career Guides & Employer Database (requiring FSUID login) provides a network of international internship opportunities.

Center for the Advancement of Human Rights

Through its internship program, the Center for the Advancement of Human Rights seeks to not only provide substantive human rights experiences to FSU students but to also directly support the work of human rights NGOs around the world. CAHR provides funding for numerous annual placements, many of them in partnership with FSU Schools and Departments.

College/Department Opportunities

Students should check with their department to see if they have resources for international or intercultural internships that are specific to their discipline.

Florida State Alternative Breaks

Global Peace Exchange

This student-led initiative was founded at Florida State University in 2006. Undergrad and grad students fundraise, budget, plan, execute, and evaluate sustainable community development projects. During the summer, teams travel to Ghana, Moldova, Nepal, Rwanda, and Uganda to implement these 8-12 week innovative, empowerment projects.

Global Scholars

The FSU Global Scholars program helps students secure summer internships at nonprofit organizations in developing countries around the world.

Independent Internships

Students are able to receive academic credit for internships arranged independently. All students must register their internship through their Academic Unit and the FSU Travel Registry in order to receive FSU credit.

International Programs

International internships offered through FSU International Programs are remarkable opportunities for students to work within prestigious organizations and dynamic corporations, while at the same time earning academic credit.
