Examples of International and Cross-Cultural Events and Activities

Global Pathways Certificate students are required to participate in at least eight events or activities. They do not need to reflect the theme area but will expand students' cross-cultural competence. 

Students participate in at least 2 activities in each of the following 4 categories. An Events & Activities Reflection (available to registered applicants in the Blackboard site) should be submitted within 7 days of the event.

Social/Cultural

Did you meet someone or see something from a culture other than your own? Explain how your own cultural history shaped this interaction.

Educational

Did you learn something about a culture other than your own? Write about one new discovery you made about that culture.

Experiential

Did you experience a culture other than your own? Explain one way you were able to experience a real dialogue.

Service

Did you perform community service alongside a cultural community apart from your own traditions? Explain what you now see that helps/hinders successful completion of a project across cultures.
