What would I be studying?

Students will conduct on-site research and/or enroll in classes on Spanish art, culture, history, society and language. Some classes are offered in English, Spanish proficiency required. Course Catalog.

How can I study at Universidad Politecnica de Valencia as an Exchange Student?

To participate in this exchange you must be a Department of Art or Department of Art History student.

  1. Contact The Florida State University College of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance Academic Advisor for the International Exchange, Dr. Jack Freiberg, who will direct you through the department's selection process outgoing reciprocal exchange students at The Florida State University.
  2. Complete the Application for outgoing reciprocal exchange student at The Florida State University, including authorizing signatures.
  3. There will be an application form for University of Valencia as well. Once your application has been evaluated by Valencia you will receive an acceptance letter and a housing form. See the University of Valencia Exchange Student Guide.

Deadlines

Apply by June 15th for Fall Semester and October 31st for Spring Semester.

Academic Calendar

The First Semester starts at the end of September and finishes at the end of January. The Second Semester starts at the beginning of February and finishes in the middle of June. At the end of every term there is a three week examination period.

How do I secure a student visa?

You must obtain a Student Visa at the Spanish Embassy or Consulate placed in the United States before traveling to Spain. Within 30 days period from your entry in Spain you must regularize your condition by applying for the Student's Residence Permit. The necessary forms and list of required documents to obtain the Student's Residence can be obtained at from Office of International Exchange Programs.

The costs above are calculated for the average person and subject to change according to variations in exchange rates. All students must have sufficient funds to cover their daily expenses during the period they are on the exchange program.

Health Care

Meeting the health insurance requirements for FSU students participating in international exchanges will ensure that you have met the Valencia requirements for health insurance.

History

Founded in 1367, The University of Valencia is Spain's oldest university. It has had a checkered history, but the modern university, was established in 1921. In January 2000 the University merged with the Medical University and the College of Education to become one of Spain's largest institutions of higher education, having the widest range of academic programs and research projects.
