What would I be studying?
Students will conduct on-site research and engage in classroom discussions of issues related to metropolitan problems in European and/or developing nations. They will benefit from a program that emphasizes an international, comparative perspective on the dynamics of urbanization. Classes are offered in English.
How can I study at the Aalborg University as an Exchange Student?
Students enroll and pay Florida State University tuition and fees, and tuition and fees are waived at the host university. All participants must be currently enrolled and degree-seeking students in good standing with all academic credit earned at the host institution being credited to The Florida State University. A student participating in the exchange must be in attendance at The Florida State University for one semester prior to the exchange.
To participate in this exchange you must be a graduate student in Urban and Regional Planning or a student pursuing the Department’s pre-graduate program.
Deadlines
The deadline for applicants applying for the Fall term is the first of May, and the deadline for applicants applying for the Spring term is the first of October.

Academic Calendar
The autumn semester runs from September 1st until the end of January, exams take place in January. The spring semester runs from February 1st until the end of June, exams take place in June. Lectures and seminars usually take place in the beginning of the semester (first 8-10 weeks) leaving more time to concentrate on project work later in the semester.
How do I secure a student visa?
American students are required to have a valid passport to enter the country. A visa is not necessary for entrance into Denmark. However, students staying longer than three months must obtain a residence permit.
Accommodations- Where would I live? What is the cost of Living?
Aalborg University has an International Accommodation Office which assists the University’s international students in finding a place to live when they arrive in Aalborg. If you keep the International Accommodation Office’s application deadlines, you are guaranteed accommodation when you arrive. The accommodation that is offered is e.g. a single room in a private house, a dormitory room or a bigger flat shared with other students.
Cost of Living in Aalborg
You will need around DKK 6,500 (approx. $1,150). This includes transportation, rent, laundry, insurance, food, books, study materials, social life, trips, etc.
The costs are calculated for the average person and subject to change according to variations in exchange rates. All students must have sufficient funds to cover their daily expenses during the period they are on the exchange program.

History
Aalborg University was inaugurated in 1974 and is a young and modern university. Over the years it has grown to become a large, well-established research and teaching institution in Denmark, offering an untraditional range of educational programs and research in the fields of Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Engineering. Aalborg University is known for its experimental curriculum based on based on problem-centered, real-life projects of educational and research relevance. This has internationally become known and recognized as ‘The Aalborg Experiment’ or ‘The Aalborg Model’. Aalborg University also places great emphasis on international relations and cooperation.
